South Windsor Woods Groundbreaking [PHOTO GALLERY]

One of the largest for sale housing developments in Connecticut in recent years broke ground yesterday.  All the umbrellas added a lot of color to the April 30 groundbreaking 2PM at South Windsor Woods!  Speakers included the person who took the development through the approval process Bob Urso, Peter DeMallie from the land planning and engineering firm Design Professionals, South Windsor Town Planner Michelle Lipe, the president of the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce Shari Fiveash, South Windsor town council member Liz Pendleton, Mike Girard from road contractor Simscroft Echo Farms and Greg Ugalde, President of T & M Building Co.

Two of the streets in South Windsor Woods were named after former South Windsor residents Craig Pepin and Edwin Kennison Jr. who were both killed in the Hartford Distributors ambush in 2010. Street signs were made for each family. The groundbreaking took place at 7 Pepin Place, the site of the future model home. The Kennison Family was there yesterday to receive their sign.

This 155 home community will consist of free standing homes, duplexes and townhouses. This 35 million dollar project may be taken as an indicator that the Connecticut new construction housing market is recovering.
