Summer is a great time to catch up on your reading. Lots of people are coming in the library looking for books this time of year. You know what’s really popular? Light and easy- especially during these hot, hot days. A book that doesn't require too much thinking is a great way to pass the time.
Here are some ideas for you.

The Fixer-Upper, by Mary Kay Andrews. A 20-something lobbyist gets caught up in a political scandal. She ends up in a small town down south trying to save an old house, as well as her reputation. Lots of fun, with laugh-out-loud moments.
Finding Colin Firth, by Mia March. Three women whose lives intersect in Boothbay, ME where Colin Firth is coming to film a movie. A perfect setting for a summer read. This is the second book by the author - her first was The Meryl Streep Movie Club, also taking place in Maine. I think there’s a theme going on here.

And for those of you who crave suspense -
Never Tell a Lie, by Hallie Ephron. What happens when a woman goes into a house and never comes out? That's the premise of this thriller. Nobody seems to be who you think they are. The mystery group at the library liked this one.
Another thriller is Beneath the Shadows by Sara Foster. A young couple moves to a tiny village in Britain. The husband doesn't return from a walk with their baby daughter, but the baby is found on their cottage's doorstep. A year later the wife returns, hoping to find some answers. This one had a real surprise ending for me.
Look Again, by Lisa Scottoline. What would you do if you get a flyer in the mail about a kidnapped baby that looks like it could be the son that you adopted several years ago? That's the dilemma facing this single mother. Extremely suspenseful - very hard to put down.
A couple of new mystery authors of interest are Bruce DeSilva and Paul Doiron. DeSilva’s main character is an old-school investigative reporter in RI. Doiron’s series revolves around a game warden in Maine
If you like wisecracking attorneys, try David Rosenfelt’s mystery series featuring one in NJ, who has a love for dogs. In fact, some of his cases have a dog as his client.
Heading to Martha’s Vineyard? Bring along a few of Philip R. Craig’s books. His J.W Jackson mystery series have a lot of local color.
And don’t forget the suspense authors that are so popular – Michael Connelly, David Baldacci, Harlen Coben, Nelson Demille, Jeffrey Deaver, Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson, Tess Gerritson – to name just a few.
