South Windsor Panthers Youth Football - Week 3

Week 3 scores

Featured game of the week

On Sunday at Rye Street Park the South Windsor Panthers (A-Maroon) handed the Windsor Giants their first loss of the year by a score of 28-6.

Although the Panthers lost the coin toss they recovered the opening onside kick and from there it was off to the races.  The running attack was led by the blocking of Centers Matt Pereira and Matt Kennedy and aided by linemen Brendan Mabey, Alex Valente, Mike Gore, Benett Saylor, Jimmy Tamburro and Chad Croxford.

Scoring opened with an 11 yard run by Gavin Duff and later in the first half Randy Holmes added a 44 yard TD run.

The second half began with Holmes taking the opening handoff from quarterback Adam Harz and running for a 75 yard score.  The final Panther touchdown of the afternoon came on a 40 yard strike from QB Connor Kapisak to tight end Will Pineo.

On the day the Panthers rushed for an even 300 yards, led by Holmes' 131 yards on 5 carries and added to by Michael Bazzano (7 carries for 41 yards), Ankit Saini (5 for 33), Gavin Duff (4 for 31), Matt Smith (3 for 27), Will Nowak (4 for 26), and Jacques Bouquot (1 for 11). Buquot also handled the kicking duties, routinely hitting extra points and keeping Windsor from returning his multiple kickoffs.

Adding to the running attack the Panthers also accumulated 72 yards in the air.

Defensively, led by stalwarts Muhammad Hassan, Dylan Hodge, Ben Custer, and Saini the Panthers were able to limit the usually-strong Windsor passing attack to 4 completions on 15 attempts, two of them resulting in interceptions, one each by Smith and Colin Ryan.

By game's end the Panthers' defense held Windsor to under 50 yards of total offense and no scores, as the Giants' only points came from a late-game interception return.

Panthers captains for the day were Brendan Mabey, Dylan Hodge, Ankit Saini, Adam Harz and Benett Saylor. Next week (Sept 29 at 11:00 AM) South Windsor takes on the Vernon Vipers at Legion Field in Vernon
