SWHS Gymnasium Rededication

On Thursday April 10, 2014 at 7:00 a ceremony will be held to celebrate the rededication of the gymnasium at South Windsor High School as the Hugh Greer – Charlie Sharos Gymnasium.


Hugh Greer was a Physical Education Teacher, Basketball Coach and

Athletic Director at Ellsworth Memorial High School from 1936 – 1947 where he
won five state championships. In 1946, he became the Head Basketball Coach at
the University of Connecticut and held that position until 1963.  He is
considered “The Father of Connecticut Basketball”.


Charles “Charlie” Sharos held many positions in
South Windsor from 1956 – 1991 and earned many honors.
