Swimmer From South Windsor Named SCSU Captain

This will mark the second straight season that he will serve in this role.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A South Windsor student-athlete has been dubbed co-captain of the Southern Connecticut State University men's swimming and diving team for the 2018-19 season.

Senior Tyler Castellone and junior Leonardo Laporte of Washingtonville, N.Y. will serve as captains. This will mark the second season that Castellone will serve in this role.

Castellone claimed NE10 titles in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and 100 backstroke last winter in helping the Owls to the NE10 team title. As a freshman, he was a NE10 Conference champion as a part of the 200 freestyle relay and the NE10 runner-up in the 100 backstroke. He was also the Co-President of the Owls' SAAC last year and was selected to attend the 2017 Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Super Regional convention last fall.
