We got our first taste of live television this afternoon as the semifinals were live on ESPN2. 42 spellers made it into this round. They had to take another computer test of spelling and vocabulary Wed. night. Then there was round five and six. Each speller received just one word in round 5; if they spelled correctly they moved on to round 6. If not, they were eliminated. If they made it through round 6, then there test scores from the computer test was added in. After round 5 there were 32 spellers left. After round 6, there were 18 spellers left. When their computer scores were added in, there were just 11 spellers moving on to the finals - Grace Remmer, Christa Schermeister, Nikitha Chandra, Pranav Shivakumar, Vanya Shivashankar, Amber Born, Sriram Hathwar, Arvind Mahankali, Chetan Reddy, Syamantak Payra and Vismaya Kharkar.
