Water Main Break In South Windsor Leaves Homes, Businesses Dry

A water main broke in a congested area of South Windsor Friday.

SOUTH WINDSOR — A water main break on Ellington Road near Governors Highway in South Windsor was expected to leave businesses and residences without service into the evening hours Friday, police said.

The break was reported at about 10 a.m.

Water service was out from Governors Highway to South Windsor Town Hall and repairs could stretch into the early evening, police said. That's a stretch of roughly 2 miles.

Both town hall and the library closed early and businesses might not be able to operate because of no water, police said.

Traffic was down to one lane in the area while crews scrambled to repair the pipe, police said.
