Woman Steals $1,650 From Elderly Client: South Windsor Police

The suspect is accused of stealing from an elderly woman who had hired her to clean her apartment.

South Windsor Police have charged a Wethersfield woman with stealing $1,650 from an elderly woman who had hired her to clean her apartment.

Police arrested Kristen Kelleher, 33, of 49 Garden Street, Wethersfield, on a warrant Monday and charged her with sixth-degree larceny, third-degree identity theft and second-degree forgery.

Kelleher’s charges stem from an April 2015 complaint that she had stolen $1,650 from an elderly local woman who had hired her to clean the apartment, according to Lt. Scott Custer.

Custer said family members learned that Kelleher had forged several checks made out to herself and cashed them. Officers then gathered the appropriate financial documents and later obtained an arrest warrant for Kelleher.

Kelleher was held on a $10,000 surety bond and was presented at Manchester Superior Court on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
