Woman Used 'Cloned' Credit Card, Lied to Officers: South Windsor Police

The woman allegedly used a friend's name and date of birth to identify herself to police during the investigation.

A Hartford woman is accused of using a South Windsor resident’s credit card information to make purchases and then allegedly misidentified herself to police during an investigation.

South Windsor Police arrested Miesha Campbell, 31, of 59 Beldon Street, on a warrant on Jan. 27. She was charged with third-degree identity theft and illegal use of a credit card.

Campbell’s charges stem from a November 2015 incident in which a local resident’s credit card information was used to make purchases, according to Deputy Chief Scott Custer.

Custer said the credit card information was apparently “skimmed” or cloned by a suspect who then gave the fraudulent credit card to Campbell.

Campbell had also used a friend’s name and date of birth to identify herself to officers during the investigation and was subsequently charged with identity theft, according to Custer.
