SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A woman was assaulted in a Norton Lane home Sunday night, resulting in her ear being bitten off and forcing police to use a Taser to subdue her assailant, according to police.

The incident took place around 8:20 p.m., when police were dispatched to the house upon "reports of an emotionally disturbed person." Upon arrival, officers saw a man choking the female victim, who was attempting to stab the man with a pair of scissors in an effort to defend herself, Lt. Mark Cleverdon said.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Her assailant was also taken to a hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Police have not yet released the names of either party, Cleverdon said.
