90 MPH Jaunt Through Stafford Into Willington Leads To DUI Charge

A driver who was traveling at 90 mph through Stafford into Willington is facing a DUI charge, state police said.

STAFFORD/WILLINGTON, CT — A Massachusetts woman is due in court next week to face a trio of criminal charges after being clocked at 90 mph on state Route 32 while allegedly drunk, state police said.

The early-morning race through the "borough" of Stafford into Willington took place at 5:28 a.m. on Oct. 7, according to a state police report. A trooper noticed a car speed past him and then accelerate at "a high rate of speed," on the wrong side of the road, according to a report.

When the trooper caught up to the vehicle, he clocked it at 90 mph in the 45 mph zone, a report indicates.

After being pulled over, the driver, identified as 30-year-old Danimar Cruz, of Amherst, MA, failed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence, according to a report. She was also charged with reckless driving and a lane violation, according to a report.

She is due in court on Oct., 22, records show.
