Accused Stafford Drug Dealer Booked on 13 Charges

A lengthy investigation has led to 13 charges against a Stafford man.

STAFFORD, CT — A lengthy investigation by state and federal authorities had led to the arrest of a Stafford man on 13 charges — most of them drug-related — via two warrants.

James Furlong, 29, of 208 Old Springfield Road, Stafford, was arrested Wednesday and initially held on $750,000 worth of bonds for a court appearance the following day.

A judge reduced the total to $75,000, which Furlong posted, and his case was continued to May 17, judicial system records show.

His charges include the sale of 1 kg or more of cannabis, the sale of a hallucinogen and operating a drug factory.

Warrants concentrated heavily on narcotics activity. Furlong was observed buying and selling the potent pain medication Fentanyl in an near Stafford, state police said. He is also accused in a warrant of using a tablet press to disguise the pills as prescription Oxycodone, according to warrants.

In addition to their observations, investigators received information about Furlong from a a drug tip line, according to warrants.

Investigators recorded drug transactions from Furlong's residence, warrants indicate.

Furlong also received poppy seeds in the mail out of a box postmarked from China, warrants indicate.
