STAFFORD, CT — A driver was airlifted to an area hospital after a vehicle hit a tree in Stafford, state police said.

State police recently released a report on the April 17 incident.

At 11:28 a.m. that day, a 76-year-old Stafford woman in a 2007 Ford Focus was traveling along the 300 block of Old Springfield Road when the car suddenly veered off the pavement to the left and hit a tree, according to a crash report.

The driver was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center via Life Star helicopter with undisclosed injuries.

The crash is still; being investigated.
