UNION, CT — A suspected drunken driver turned into a walker on a remote road in Union, but state troopers were able to intercept him anyway, according to an accident report.
At 4:53 in the morning on May 26, state police responded to reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree at the intersection of Bigelow Hollow and state Route 197, according to an accident report.
A second 911 call indicated the driver had fled the scene, according. to an accident report.
While en route to the intersection, state police encountered the driver, identified as a 29-year-old Hartford man, who was walking about a mile from the scene, according to an accident report.
The man then failed sobriety tests, was taken into custody, and charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, driving while under suspension, driving without a license and a lane violation, according to an accident report.
