UNION, CT — A bear was hit by a tractor-trailer in northern Tolland County last week, state police said.
The crash took place Friday night at 10:15 p.m.
According to a crash report, the bear was crossing Interstate 84, and the truck was on the westbound side of Interstate 84. The collision caused the driver of the truck, a 29-year-old Clifton, NJ, man, to lose control of the rig because of a "mechanical failure," according to a crash report.
The truck then tore through the center guardrail, crossed the eastbound lanes, and crashed into a tree, according to a crash report.
A crash report did not say what happened to the bear. It did indicate the truck driver was not seriously hurt and was able to exit the vehicle on his own.
