WILLINGTON, CT — Willington Animal Control is asking for the public's help after two dogs were found abandoned at the Interstate-84 East Truck Stop in Willington.

According to the agency, the dogs were discovered tied to a guardrail and are now safe and receiving care.

Willington Animal Control said it is seeking help identifying the person or people responsible for leaving the animals there. The agency said the dogs had been left with a 30-pound bag of dog food and water dishes.

Animal Control said the dogs appeared to have been left with basic necessities, but the way they were left remains a concern.

"While the dogs appear to have been provided with basic necessities, abandoning animals in this manner is unacceptable and raises serious concerns for their welfare," officials said.

The agency is now asking anyone who may know the dogs or recognize the circumstances to come forward.

"We are asking anyone who may recognize these dogs or have information regarding who may have left them at this location to contact Animal Control," according to the notice. "Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could be helpful to our investigation."

For now, Animal Control said both dogs are safe and in good condition.
