Trooper Runs Down Fleeing Driver In 7-Mile Pursuit After Crash In Union

UNION, CT — A state trooper nabbed a hit-and-run driver after a chase of more than seven miles on Interstate 84 in Union, an arrest report shows.

The incident took place at 10:24 a.m. on July 27, state police said.

The driver, a 31-year-old New Britain man, had caused a crash on the westbound side of the highway, just past Exit 72, according to an arrest report.

He fled the scene and a trooper gave chase, according to an arrest report.

The trooper was able to pull the nam over 7.5 miles down the highway, state police said.

The man was charged with reckless driving, following too closely and evading responsibility.
