Officers determined the suspect had left the residence and an investigation identified Baer as the culprit, police said.

A police report indicates Baer had previously completed electrical work at the residence and had returned to the home in an attempt to steal money.

Baer was located in the area shortly after the incident and taken into custody, according to police.

He was charged with third-degree burglary, attempted third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and attempted sixth-degree larceny. He was held on a $50,000 surety bond and was to appear Friday in Manchester Superior Court.

The charges are allegations, and Baer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
