Distressed Hiker Rescued From Trail In Stafford

STAFFORD, CT — A lost and distressed hiker was guided to safety over the weekend in Stafford.

According to West Stafford Fire Department officials, on Saturday, a crew was dispatched to the area of Old Springfield and Worthington Road (On the Somers border) for a lost hiker "who was reporting low blood sugar."

The hiker was following a trail (Long abandoned road) from Somers, and was in contact with the dispatch center, according to West Stafford Fire Department officials

The 44House responded with a two vehicles, including its UTV 144, along with Stafford Ambulance, Stafford FD No. 1 personnel, a Somers Paramedic unit and Connecticut State Police, including a tracking canine.

A fire crew on a UTV was able to locate the hiker on the trail and transport the hiker out of the woods, according to West Stafford Fire Department officials.

The hiker was able to return home without any ill effect, According to West Stafford Fire Department officials.
