STAFFORD, CT — A hit-and-run driver forgot one thing while trying to evade a crash in Stafford.

State police said the accident occurred at 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 7 on the 100 block of West Stafford Road. While surveying the scene, a trooper located the fleeing car's front plate and traced it to its owner, according to a crash report.
The man, however, said his son was driving the car and directed state police to an apartment building in Vernon, according to a crash report.
The man, a 35-year-old from Ashford, was located and charged with evading responsibility, following too closely and interfering with police.
