Tractor-Trailers Tangle In Violent Highway Crash In Willington

WILLINGTON, CT — One tractor-trailer bashed into another on Interstate 84 in Willington, state police said.

The incident took place at 11:34 p.m. on Sept. 16, state police said.

According to a crash report, both trucks were in the right lane on the eastbound side of the highway, just past Exit 71.

One truck was traveling about 65 mph and the driver did not realize the truck in front was traveling at a slow rate of speed and hit it from behind, according to a crash report.

The offending truck sustained heavy front-end damage and the undisclosed contents of the lead truck began spilling onto the pavement, according to a crash report.

The driver of the trailing truck was taken to Rockville Hospital with suspected minor injuries, state police said.
