Charges Filed in Bloody Golf Cart Crash at Stafford Campground

Criminal charges have been filed for a golf cart crash in Stafford.

STAFFORD, CT — A New Hampshire man has been arrested for a bloody summertime golf cart accident at a Stafford campground.

David Fazzina, 62, of Newmarket, NH, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, driving under the influence and second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, according to a warrant. He was taken into custody Tuesday and is slated to appear in court on Match 21, state police said.

The accident took place on July 1 at the Sun Valley campground. Fazzina a had been at a campground cafe beforehand and was driving a cart on the property with a passenger, according to a warrant.

The car rolled onto its side and both driver and passenger were injured. One witness said Fazzina was going too fast.

The jaw of the passenger broke in three places, he a neck injury that made breathing difficult and he suffered an ear injury that led to hearing loss, according to a warrant. The passenger also had a 1-inch cut on the lip and a 7-inch forehead gash that caused a bloody mess, according to a warrant.

Tests performed at Johnson Memorial Hospital after the accident showed Fazzina had a blood alcohol level of .13, nearly twice the legal limit of .08.
