CSP 'Wanted Wednesday' Poster Features Stafford Man On The Lam

STAFFORD/VERNON, CT — State police are looking for a man with ties to Stafford and Vernon wanted on four warrants with a collective bond values of $1 milllion.

A poster featuring Gerald Kopek, 42, has been plastered on state police social media outlets as the latest installment of "Wanted Wednesday."

Kopek is wanted on four separate warrants — two of which are related to felonies, state police said.

Charges against Kopek include possessing heroin with the intent to sell and various crimes related to domestic violence, state police said.

In another case, he was slapped with a fifth-degree larceny charge for allegedly taking tools from a stafford residence and trying to pawn them at two area shops, state police said.
Kopek was arrested on Nov. 10 in the case. He is accused of taking from a Grant Hill residence a power saw and a laser level and then trying to sell them at Silas Deane Pawn in both Vernon and Bloomfield, according to a report.

The four bonds total $250,000 each, according to the wanted poster. Kopek has active cases involving two arrests in Vernon and three by state police out of the Troop C barracks. Re-arrest orders were issued for him on Jan. 10, according to judicial system records.

State police believe he has been using several vehicles and has been frequenting several locations between Stafford and Hartford while hiding. One one of his prior arrests involving him being holed up in an attic, stated police said.
