DNA Sample Identifies Suspect In 2021 Willington Theft Case
An arrest has been made in a three-year-old Willington burglary case, state police said.

WILLINGTON, CT — An arrest has been made in connection with a 2021 theft case in Willington, state police said.
Julian Burney, 49, of Hartford, was taken into custody on May 14 and charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny, according to an arrest report.
According to a warrant, the case dates back to March 6, 2021, when they received a complaint about stolen power tools from a resident of Balazs Road in Willington. The homeowner threw a rock at a man fleeing his property in a black Volvo sedan with heavy window tint and damaged the vehicle, according to a warrant.

Troopers then noticed the Volvo heading west on Route 74 near the Interstate 84 Exit 69 interchange, followed him into Vernon but lost sight of the car in the Rockville section of town, according to an arrest report.
The Volvo was registered out of New Britain and a search warrant uncovered DNA that matched Burney, along with several vehicle maintenance receipts with his identifying information on them and an interlocking ignition device assigned to him, according to a warrant.

He was eventually tracked down and arrested, state police said.
