Driver Gets DUI Charge After 15 MPH Chase in Stafford
A man engaged troopers in a low-speed chase in Stafford.

STAFFORD, CT — A Stafford man wound up getting a drunken driving charge after waking up from a middle-of-the-road slumber, engaging state police in a low-speed chase, bumping a cruiser and scuffling with troopers — all on a busy road in town, according to an arrest report.
According to an arrest report, at 6:29 p.m. on April 21, Andrew Conway, 30, was stopped at a green light at the intersection of routes 30 and 190, slumped over the steering wheel.

As a state police cruiser was pulling behind his vehicle, Conway began leaving the scene and a 15 mph pursuit ensued on Route 190, state police said.
He turned right onto Old Springfield road and Conway hit a second cruiser that had joined the pursuit, according to an arrest report.

Once pulled over, he refused to exit the car and was taken into custody after a brief struggle, state police said.
