Family, Rabbits Escape Injury During House Fire In Willington
A fire broke out at a home in Willington early Thursday.

WILLINGTON, CT — A local family — including a bunch of rabbits — was able to get out of a home safety after a fire broke out in Willington early Thursday morning.
The fire broke out at about 1:40 a.m. at 88 River Road.
Willington Fire Department Assistant Chief Stuart Cobb said the blaze began and was pretty much confined to the kitchen and smoke was billowing from the house as far up as the attic when firefighters arrived.

The fire was doused fairly quickly, Cobb said.
No injuries were reported and the family's rabbits were rescued. The family was making lodging arrangements, he added.

The fire was still under investigation into Thursday afternoon, Cobb said. The fire marshal was at the scene, he added.
