Fire Breaks Out At Popular Stafford Restaurant

A fire broke out at a popular restaurant in Stafford on Monday morning.

STAFFORD, CT — A fire broke out at a popular Stafford restaurant Monday morning.

The call for a fire at Basil's Restaurant, 64 West Stafford Road, came in at 8:25 a.m. on Monday. A total of six fire trucks responded to the scene.

It appeared that the fire was under control in about 30 minutes and traffic was able to be maintained in both directions along West Stafford Road. The road is state Route 190.

There was no word on damage Monday morning.

Basil's is popular for its food, beverages and entertainment. For example, iconic eastern Connecticut troubadour Bruce John plays there regularly.
