Incident At Park In Stafford Leads To Assault Charge
An arrest was made after an incident at a park in Stafford, state police said.

STAFFORD, CT — An arrest was made after an incident at a park in Stafford, state police said.
On June 15 at 4:36 p.m., state troopers out of the Troop C barracks responded to a report of a disturbance at Olympic Park in Stafford, during which a man had reportedly assaulted a juvenile.
Responding Troopers located a 14-year-old, who was not injured but said the man had fled into a wooded area, according to an incident report.

An adult at the park claimed to have been approached bu the man in the parking lot while inside a vehicle, state police said. According to an incident report, the man opened the driver's side door to the vehicle, but the person inside was able quickly pull the door shut. State police were told the person then approached a basketball court and took a swing at a juvenile before running into a wooded area, according to an incident report.
The juvenile told state police the man inquired about two others and the youth knew and then began swearing and threw a punch, which hit the youth in the shoulder, according to an incident report. A friend of the youth then briefly distracted the man and the youth ran toward the parking lot and asked someone to to contact police.

An initial CSP canine track was unsuccessful, but, during the investigation, troopers were able to identify the man as 19-year-old Connor Sheerin, of Stafford.
Over the course of several telephone calls, troopers were able to determine that Sheerin was at his residence and met with him, and Sheerin said the matter was related to a previous financial transaction, according to an incident report.
Sheerin was placed under arrest and transported to Troop C in Tolland where he was charged with:
- Third-degree assault
- Risk of injury to a child
- Second-degree breach of peace
Sheerin was released on a $10,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment in Rockville Superior Court, on June 26, state police said.
