International Student Charged in CT With Kiddie Porn Possession
An international student living in Willington has been charged in a child porn case, state police said.

WILLINGTON, CT — An international student attending classes at the University of Connecticut has been charged with first-degree possession of child pornography, state police said. The case involves lewd images of school-aged children, according to state police.
Zhai Xingyu, 24, who lives in an apartment on Burt Latham Road in Willington, was arrested last Thursday and appeared in court later that day, records show. His initial bond of $50,000 was cut in half during his arraignment in Rockville Superior Court and he posted it, according to judicial system records. He is due back before a judge on Nov. 13, records show.
He has been attending school in Storrs since 2015, according to case records.

The case dates back to June 8, when Coventry state police received a call from a local computer repair business that discovered "many" images of what appeared to be both young boys and girls engaging in sex acts with an adult, according to a warrant. Xingyu had brough in the machine, according to a warrant.
State police then initiated an investigation.

One file in particular had "Asain writing" on it and referred to children being 7 and 8 years old, according to a warrant. Xinguy told state police some of the files were obtained "years" ago in China and he thought they were legal, according to a warrant.
According to the charge, there were more than 50 images in his possession.
