Loose Wheel Causes Crash On I-84 In Willington

WILLINGTON, CT — A loose tire and wheel wreaked havoc along a section of Interstate-84 In Willington on Friday night, state police said.

The incident took place 9:26 p.m. on the eastbound side of the highway, just west of Exit 71, according to a report. The left rear wheel fell off 2011 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the center lane, according to a report. The driver of a 2016 Honda CRV traveling behind it could not avoid the wheel and hit the stray wheel, according to a report.

No injuries were reported.
