Man Facing Charges After Willington Windshield Incident: Cops

An incident in Willington involving a smashed windshield led to a series of charges against a Vernon man, state police said.

WILLINGTON, CT — An incident in Willington involving a smashed windshield led to a series of charges against a Vernon man, according to a state police report.

The incident took place on Jan. 6 at 7:44 p.m. on Mirtl Road in Willington, state police said.

The initial call came in that a car was stolen and that a man was standing on the side of the road with an injured hand after striking an windshied, according to a report.

Robert Shepard, 26, was charged with:

  • Second-degree unlawful restraint
  • Criminal attempt at second-degree kidnapping
  • Second-degree reckless endangerment
  • Second-degree threatening
  • Third-degree assault
  • Disorderly conduct

He was assigned a $15,000 bond in the case, which he posted after a Monday arraignment, records show. He is due back in court on Feb. 19, records show.
