Man Snagged Driving 117 MPH On I-84 In Willington

An East Windsor man was arrested after a 117 mph jaunt on I-84 in Willington, state police said.

WILLINGTON, CT — State police charged a 37-year-old East Windsor man with reckless driving after he buzzed by a trooper at 117 mph on a stretch of Interstate-84 late Friday night, a report indicates.

It was 14 minutes before midnight when a trooper, positioned west of Exit 70 on the eastbound section of the highway, saw a dark-colored sedan go past him, according to a report. He was able to time the car at 117 mph on a laser, according to a report.

The car then shot over from the extreme left lane to the Exit 70 off ramp, and the driver, identified as Derrick Donovan, put on the brakes hard before turning right onto Route 32, according to a report.
