STAFFORD, CT — A single-vehicle crash in Stafford over the weekend claimed the life of a 40-year-old Canterbury resident, state police said.

The crash took place at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, state police said.

According to a crash report, a 2018 Kia Sportage was heading South on Furnace Avenue, when it skidded off the road. The sport utility vehicle veered onto the right grassy shoulder and struck two poles, the report indicates.

The driver, identified as Luis Agular-Cerone, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a crew from Stafford EMS, state police said.
