WILLINGTON, CT — A 34-year-old Willington woman has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle in connection with the death of a 3-year-old boy off a local portion of Route 74.

State police Thursday released the details of the Oct. 4 arrest of Jessica Raymond. Raymond posted a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to return to Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 16, judicial system records show.

The case dates back to 5:07 p.m. on May 3, 2020, when a state trooper traveling on Route 74 in Willington was waved down by a person screaming for help at 476 Tolland Turnpike, the local address for that portion of the state road.

According to a warrant, the trooper was directed to the end of the driveway, where a small child had sustained "severe trauma" after being hit by a car.

The child was later pronounced dead, state police said.

Raymond, who lives at the address, at first said she did not realize she had hit anyone in the driveway. The boy was near the end of the driveway near some dumpsters, according to a warrant.

The trooped located a pink handbag in the driveway, along with a nearly empty half-pint of Jagermeister, according to a warrant.

Testimony outlined in a warrant indicated Raymond admitted they were hers.
