WILLINGTON, CT — A car was unlocked and the keys were in it, but a 22-year-old from Bristol was still charged with stealing a vehicle in Willington in 2022.

Tyler Robertson was served a warrant at Rockville Superior Court on April 30 charging him with larceny of a motor vehicle, first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree burglary.

The case dates back to New Year's Eve in 2022, according to a warrant. A Cosgrove Road resident told state police that she woke up to walk her dog at 7 a.m. that day and noticed her BMW 328i was. not in the driveway, according to a warrant.

The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys in a cup holder, according to a warrant, and the home's surveillance camera was inside charging.

Robertson was ultimately identified by a neighbor's camera, state police said.
