Police Dog Thwarts Escape By Burglary Suspect At Store In Willington

State police interrupted a burglary in Willington over the weekend.

WILLINGTON, CT — A 31-year-old Hartford man is facing several criminal charges after state police broke up a break-in at a Willington business over the weekend.

The incident took place at 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

A trooper was performing spot checks along Phelps Way and saw a man trying to beak into the Lots & More store, according to an arrest report. The burglar fled on foot, and state police set up a permitter in an effort to flush the man out, according to a report.

That's when police dog Nitro stepped in. Nitro arrived at the scene and was able to quickly find the man in a wooded area to the south of the plaza and he was taken into custody, state police said.

Kishan Walker was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, second-degree criminal mischief, driving while under suspension and driving without the minimum insurance. He was to appear in Rockville Superior Court Monday.
