Recording Devices Found In Stafford Home, Felony Charge Filed

A woman is facing a felony charge after a man discovered his conversations were being illegally recorded, state police said.

STAFFORD, CT — A 40-year-old Stafford woman is facing a felony charge of eavesdropping after hidden recording devices were discovered in a local home, state police said.

The case dates back to Oct. 21, when a local resident called about the finding the devices. The 42-year-old man said he had recently purchased a home in early 2023 and was living there with a female partner. The woman, however, moved out after an arrest for domestic violence, according to a warrant. She had been visiting the home to move her belongings out while the homeowner was at work, according to a warrant.

The man told state police that, about two months later, he began having difficulty with with a set of bluetooth headphones, according to a warrant. During a troubleshooting scan, he discovered a strange bluetooth device, which he traced to a chair in the home, according to a warrant.

Multiple recordings of private family conversations were discovered on the device, according to a warrant.

An old cell phone had also been planted in the home to access private conversations, according to a warrant.

The woman was subsequently arrested for the eavesdropping charge after state police secured a warrant out of Rockville Superior Court.
