Stafford 2022-23 Budget Proposal Rejected By Voters
A new budget proposal will be presented to residents of Stafford after Wednesday's rejection.

STAFFORD, CT — In a low turnout Wednesday, voters in Stafford rejected a proposed $45.03 million budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year by 23 votes.
The bottom line for the budget plan was $45,034,063.
There no votes tallied 290.

The yes votes totaled 267.
The 557 people voted out of a registered voter pool of 7,386, town officials said.

The Board of Finance met after the vote and cut the budget by $300,000:
- $200,ooo from the Board of Education side
- $100,000 from the Selectmen's side
Officials said the Board of Selectmen is scheduled to meet on Tuesday to adopt the adjustments.
