Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
I’ve always been actively involved in the Stafford Public School System. I’m running for the Board of Education because I feel that I can be the voice of parents, by helping to advocate for them and assist in improving the experience of children in Stafford Public Schools.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Lack of strategy that the district has to improve the academic achievement of its students. The district needs to shift its focus away from politically charged agendas and focus its energy on making sure our students have the appropriate reading, writing and math skills for their grade level. We should be focused on what is not working and how we can correct this for the future of our children. I fully intend to question administration and hold those in leadership accountable while making sure board of education meetings are listening to those in attendance in person, virtually and those who write in.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I’ve grown up in Stafford and have lived here most of my life. I graduated from Stafford High School in 2004. I’ve been involved in the school system not only as a student athlete myself but most importantly as a parent. I’ve volunteered for the last 12+ years at WSS, SES and SMS. I have experience and knowledge about special education services and have built a wonderful reputation within our community.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
The inability to be able to better prepare a budget, that would be in line with the needs of the tax payers while making sure we are able to give our kids what they need for a proper education.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I’ve been in demanding leadership roles within the finance and banking industry covering Northern Connecticut and Massachusetts. I’ve done so while still being able to volunteer in our schools but also being present for my two teenage kids as a single parent. If that’s not an accomplishment I don’t know what is.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Always go to sleep and wake up with a grateful heart.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I truly look forward to serving our town and children to the best of my ability should you vote for me on November 7th.
