
Earl T. Avery, 96, of Stafford Springs, husband of the late Gladys (Possardt) Avery, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
He was born in Stafford Springs, son of the late Standish and Marie Rose (Foucher) Avery. Earl served in the United States Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was self employed as a contractor, and was active in government for the Town of Stafford.
Earl was a former Selectman and constable for the Town of Stafford, as well as having served on various boards, which included Planning and Zoning, WPCA, and the Wetlands Commission. He was an avid outdoorsman whose hobbies were hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Earl is survived by his son, Wendell and his wife Vicky; daughter-in-law, Beverly; son-in-law, Brian; grandchildren, Susan, Pamela, Daniel, Amanda, Jacquelyn, and Jessica; great grandchildren, Adeline and Brady; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Bruce and Jack; daughter, Patricia; brother, Robert; and sister, Rose Marie.
Funeral services with burial in West Stafford Cemetery, Stafford, will be held privately.
