ELLINGTON, CT — The old expression, "Good things come in threes," has never been more applicable than this week in Ellington, where three out-of-town CT Lottery players cashed in big prizes this week on tickets purchased at retailers in the town.

The luck started Monday, when Joseph Boivin of Manchester cashed in a Diamonds and Gold scratch ticket worth $300,000. He bought the lucky ticket at the Quick Mart at 194 Windsorville Road.

Two more big payouts were claimed Thursday, according to the CT Lottery website. A Lucky For Life ticket purchased by an anonymous Vernon resident at the Big Y supermarket paid out $390,000, and $50,000 was claimed by an anonymous Stafford resident from a Powerball ticket bought at the Ellington Road Runners at 83 West Road.
