Stafford Woman Accused Of Getting Thousands Off SNAP Program Illegally
A Stafford resident was arrested Wednesday in a food stamp fraud investigation.

STAFFORD, CT — A Stafford woman has been charged with stealing $4,531 from the state's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, the Connecticut Justice Department announced.
SNAP benefits are administered by the Connecticut Department of Social Services. Brenda Flores, 33, was arrested Wednesday by inspectors from the Statewide Prosecution Bureau of the Office of the Chief State's Attorney on a warrant and charged with first-degree larceny.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Flores received $4,531 in SNAP benefits that she was not entitled to receive from June 2021 to March 2022.

Flores is accused of failing to report a legally liable relative that she was residing with, along with the legally liable relative's income, in order to receive SNAP benefits.
Flores was released on a promise to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Feb. 10, authorities said.
