Stafford Woman Facing Felony Charge In State Benefits Investigation

STAFFORD, CT — A Stafford woman is accused of ripping off a pair of state assistance programs and is facing a felony theft charge as a result.

Holly Ann Schmitz, 56, was serve a warrant in Sept. 11 charging her with first-degree larceny - defrauding a public agency and making a false statement.

According to a warrant, Schmitz failed to report certain income on applications and received $1,647 in food assistance benefits for which she was not qualified and $1,530 in general assistance benefits for which she was not eligible.
