STAFFORD, CT — A man being sought by state police in connection with a hit-and-run crash involving a parked car on Main Street in Stafford is also facing charges as part of a bizarre protective order violation, state police said.

According to arrest reports, state troopers on July 4 went to a Willington Avenue home to serve a pair of warrants to a 43-year-old man related to the May 11 crash. Case records show that state police received several 911 calls that day about a car swerving on Main Street before hitting a parked vehicle and fleeing the scene.

While they were at the home, however, troopers encountered a woman who had an active protective order against him, according to an arrest report. She claimed that the man picked her up from a "safe shelter" in the area where she was supposed to be hiding from him three days earlier and took her to the home, according to case records.
