State Police Seize 'Gray Death,' Other Drugs in Willington

A domestic incident led to a drug seizure in Willington.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Monday domestic disturbance in Willington turned into a drug seizure with state police coming away with a smorgasbord of narcotics, according to a report.

The incident took place at 5:35 p.m. on Schofield Road, state police said.

Troopers went to the area after receiving reports of a woman screaming for help, according to a report. They subsequently detained 58-year-old Jose Velazquez and found two small small bags of suspected cocaine on him, according to a report.

He then tried discard a set of keys to a nearby vehicle that he said did not belong to him.

A canine team from the Stafford Resident Trooper’s Office then responded to the scene and police dog Loki alerted troopers to presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

Troopers found and seized several narcotics and called in a federal Drug Enforcement Administration because part of the stash included 661 grams, or 1.45 pounds, of "Fentanyl syndicate," also known as "Gray Death," according to a report.

Also confiscated were 238 grams of cocaine (0.52 pounds), 44 grams of heroin, and approximately 17 grams of methamphetamine.

Velazquez, of Willington, was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of narcotics, the sale of a narcotic substance, the sale of more than a half-ounce of cocaine, operating a drug factory and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a report.

Velazquez was held on $500,000 bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Tuesday.
