Suspected Drunken Driver Fights With Troopers After Speeding Onto Sidewalk In Stafford: Crash Report
A suspected drunken driver was combative with authorities near Stafford Town Hall, a report says.

STAFFORD, CT — A drunken driving incident left a car on a sidewalk in Stafford and its driving with nine criminal charges, state police said.
A state police report on the Oct. 3 incident was recently released.
That night, at 11:36, troopers went to the area of 1 East Main. St. and encountered two 14-year-olds who on the Town Hall steps, saying the driver of the car they were in was drunk, according to a crash report. A 2010 Nissan Rogue was parked on the shoulder nearby, according to a crash report.

When troopers activated their emergency lights and approached the vehicle, the driver, later identified as a 47-year-old Waterbury resident, accelerated over a curb and onto a sidewalk before coming to a stop, according to a crash report.
After refusing to complete field sobriety tests, the driver became unruly and attempted to kick troopers while being taken into custody, according to a crash report.

She was also combative while state police tried to process her, according to a crash report.
The driver was charged with:
- Driving under the influence
- Failure to drive in the proper lane
- Driving without a license
- Risk of injury to a minor (2 counts)
- Second-degree criminal mischief
- Interfering with police
- Assault on a public safety officer
- First-degree reckless endangerment
