Suspects Flee Woodstock Incident At High Speeds Into Willington

WILLINGTON, CT — A brief police pursuit early Sunday morning involved two juveniles hitting speeds of better than 100 mph on windy and hilly state roads that included a stretch in Willington, state police said.

According to a preliminary state police report, at 4:53 a.m. Sunday, state police out of the Troop D barracks responded to Crystal Pond Road in Woodstock after receiving a report about a suspicious incident that involved a fire.

Responding troopers then observed a vehicle traveling away from the area at a high rate of speed and troopers attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop, according to the report.

The vehicle failed to stop and engaged troopers in a brief pursuit before efforts to stop the vehicle were terminated in the interest of safety, according to the report. The suspects fled into the Troop C coverage area and included speeds of better than 100 mph on routes 44 and 74 and on Interstate 84, according to Troop C.

Two juveniles were eventually caught by state police at an undisclosed location and referred to juvenile court, according to the report.
