WILLINGTON, CT — After a successful dinner dance in April at the Willington Hill Firehouse, Willington Public Library Co-Directors Hope Gove and Deb Linares say they and their staff have more on the way for Willington to celebrate the library's 100th Birthday.

"The community is really opening up and coming back together stronger than ever for the library. We're looking forward to more events in the community and in our library," new WPL programmer Steve Jones said.

Future events planned for their 100th Birthday Celebration include:

  • A community picnic and summer reading kickoff on June 17
  • A Formal "Fall into the History of WPL" reception slated for October
  • A "Closing the Chapter" Christmas party in December.

The events are designed to bring residents of all ages together to take part in games and competitions, take tours of the current library and a display of its century-long history, special guests and other fun activities.

"The library is a place for everyone to enjoy and to join in on our celebration. Come join us at the library and be a part of our history," a message from the staff said.
