Willington Obituary: Gabrielle Richard, 86

Condolences to her family and friends.

Gabrielle H. (Desorcy) Richard, 86, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at home surrounded by loving family. She will now join her loving husband, Joseph, who passed away in March 2015.

She was born in Acushnet, MA to the late George and Diana (Tardif) Desorcy. She grew up and lived in Acushnet, MA, Manchester, and Vernon, before moving to Willington for over 51 years. Gabrielle worked as a Bank Teller in Acushnet, before moving to CT. She then returned to banking and worked for Connecticut Bank & Trust company for over 20 years, where she looked forward to seeing her customers daily.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church in Rockville and was a member of the choir for Fr. Ralph DiOrio Eucharistic Ministry. Gabrielle loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which brought her much joy. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, ski trips to New Hampshire, the Maine Beaches, and her ultimate favorites, lobster roll, clam chowder and maple walnut ice cream.

She is survived by her three beloved children, Paulette Wieland and her husband Thomas of Vernon, Ron Richard and his wife Christine of Coventry, Suzanne Rousseau and her husband Mark of Enfield, and her brother, Joseph Desorcy and his wife Elaine of Marion, MA. She also leaves her five grandchildren, Michelle Crawford, Mark Wieland, Julie Kingsbury, Eric Richard, Michael Richard, and Rachelle Rousseau; three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Muriel Motta, Doris Dubois, Theresa Robitalle, Sr. Flora Desorcy, and Sr. Cecile Desorcy, and two brothers, Roger Desorcy and Romeo Desorcy.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver Anna, and her neighbors, Ron, Denise, and Todd for their many unselfish acts of kindness.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 33 West Street, Rockville. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
