Woman Charged In Stafford Debit Card Ripoff Case

One Stafford resident who was helping another with odd chores is accused of illegally using her debit card, state police said.

STAFFORD, CT — A woman who had been performing odd chores for an older Stafford resident is accused of sneaking off with the resident's debit card and ripping her off.

The 47-year-old who assisted the 67-year-old resident is also from Stafford, according to case records. She was charged on a warrant with third-degree identity theft, sixth-degree larceny, receipt from the illegal use of a credit card and the fraudulent use of an auto teller.

She is due in court on May 10.

According to a warrant, the assistant was caught on Big Y surveillance cameras using the older woman's card.
